Dear Martin,

It looks like a problem with MS Office, since you are the first to report this AFAIK.
I would be happy to help you.
Can you please write to [email removed] ?
We will schedule a remote session today to figure out what happens and fix this.

If you don't have time for a remote session, my advice would be:

- Kill any WORD.EXE instances from Windows task manager
- Open your project and follow the steps to reimport the RTF external view (you don't have to save it as doc or docx)
- Track any WORD.EXE process that would appear in the task manager at this point (it should not, if it does then we know we have to repair MS Office installation)
- Kill it if necessary
- Check if the file imports

Translating Transit NXT PPF and exporting a TPF

Has anyone been able to actually translate a Transit PPF (regardless of the references) and produce a TPF that worked for their customer? My tests with all versions of DVx/2/3 Workgroup produces a TPF with only a project file (identical to the one in the PPF) and nothing else (no translations). Please let me know if anyone has ACTUALLY SUCCEEDED at processing a Transit project and obtaining the correct output format needed. If so, please also let me know the version and build. Thanks in advance!

If You have to translate ref files (which have a lang name extensions, ENG, DUE, RUS etc.) You can NOT do it with DVX123. DVX3 does not support exim operations with ref files in transit packages.

The link on draft DVX3 Russian manual is below. I've started to correct it (in parallel with a Russian interface), but this is a serious work and takes time, I have not now.
Readers - please read the terminology in the beginning and do not ask questions, which are answered in manual.
Manual is left in DOCX especially for those who need to use pieces if it for own instructions.

Errors, comments and additions, please write to mail in doc.
Maybe sometime later I'll write a small chapter about working with Trados files in DVX.

Скачать можно здесь. Начал немного доводить его до ума (вместе с русским фейсом), но работа это серьёзная, а времени нет.
Читателям — просьба ознакомьться с вынесенной в самое начало терминологией,чтобы не задавать потом вопросы, ответы на которые есть в руководстве.
Специально оставил в доке для тех, кому понадобятся куски для собственных инструкций.

No one reported issues with the joining/splitting feature so we would like to see what causes the bug in your case.

1 Format: Doc, badly converted from pdf.
The problem is that backslash comments «{» of tag.
3. No one: May be no one is so «crazy» as me.

2. Support: With your responses in 3 weeks (DVX3 forum seems to be near to death) and NDA to me the support is not a good idea.

Hope You can reproduce the bug having converted from pdf table where strings in cell look like

[b]Thanks for Infix filter[/b]. Add this working-with-pdf technology in your manual. IT'S THE WAY TO WORK WITH TRUE (VECTOR, NOT RENDERED) PDF FROM ACAD (ACAD dgws in PDF).

And I wanted to know — when we'll see problemlos workflow with SDL packages (it's better for newbies) or SDLXLIFF files with bad entities, with transit packages, go to next empty, autoreset MT status after manual editing, 100% match only by words (alfabetic symbols) (ignore not only numerals, but punctuation marks, single/multiple/non breaking spaces etc); Meas Units auto/manual converter (You have a lot of free place on ribbon, especially on wide and very wide monitors - for them another good idea - vertical toolbars (I'm a ribbon hater) - because the lack of vertical workplace)?

Another good idea — convert dsl (simple tagged Unicode text files) dics (Lingvo, Goldendict) for project lexicons (for polysemantic words — ignore, use first meaning, manual select etc.)

It's not a very good idea to build lexicon by word number.
Much better — using morphology from Hunspell dics and patterns — noun+adj, adj+noun, verb + prep + noun, verb + noun, adverb + verb, adverb + adj and more complex.

Another good idea for Office Live filter - replace [sup]2[/sup] ->² , ^3>³, '|’ >' for some langs etc. because I'm tired to see m{123}2{124} instead of simple m² etc., and not 100% match with «l'amore» and «l’amore»

Another good idea — to inform users when fonts in MSOFFICE docs has no symbols subset for target language. It's frequent problem with creative designers/writers which use proprietary fonts with only latin subset.

About priority: Most of problem I've met I solved in few minutes, rarely in a pair of hours. Communicating with You takes more time and no guaranteed solution.

What do we make everything clearer for?

Problemlos working with SDLXLIFF is a pair of years already in your «to-do-list» and have not made (Why Kilgray COULD MAKE that, but Atril couldn't?).

what is unclear in this problem?

The sense of my answers — to inform you about bugs and show ideas for future improvements (with which you can agree or not).

DVX3 new build (730) has been released.

• Source text editing locked by default (you can unlock them with Alt+F2)
• A rebuilt and Optimised MS Office Live Filter
• Detection of non-translatables in fuzzy match repairs (learn more here)
• Improved compatibility with other CAT tools with improved XLIFF filter (Short video illustrating interoperability here)
• Enabled productivity and quality tracking in TEAMserver
• Integration of updated HelpFile for Déjà Vu X3 (press F1 and browse the HelpFile)
• Editing confirmed segments removes the confirmation status
• Fewer tags for PDF conversions

We also uploaded this video to demonstrate one useful example of RegEx – the terminology extraction.

It is nice to see that Déjà Vu is still 'around'. I was (am) a big fan of this CAT tool, until I decided to switch from Windows to OS X. I wish you luck with your software! I like the improved Transit filter (yes, I still have a Déjà Vu license ;)).

another annoying bug

the segments sequence in imported IDML does not correspond to the original - a part of sentences are not on its places but jumped somewhere in text. It's made VERY DIFFICULT to review translation cause logical links are broken.

Quick analysis shows that DVX3 uses at import of IDML sorting by name of xml in Stories folder or in Storylist of designmap.xml.
May be somewhere in IDML there is another information about logical sequencing of xml files?

And once again — why Kilgray with it's MemoQ can import IDML MORE correctly than Atril with DVX3?

(I work not often with IDML, but I haven't seen NO IDML file that DVX3 imports saving correct sentence sequence. May be it's a problem of bad Indesign designers).

and yesterday I've seen first Transit package, that DV could import. :)
